I have a media centre laptop and will upgrading to vista have any problems? and will i lose the functions of media centre or does vista have similiar functions? -- Many Thanx

upgrading frm xp media centre to vista
There is not guarantee that everything will work, that why its still in beta. I would preferrably install Vista on a logical partition or a spare computer. If you feeling like taking a risk, at least back up your data before moving forward. Remember, once you upgrade, its a point of no return, you can't uninstall Vista, you just have format it and reinstall XP. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I think the extenders built for MCE 2005 will have problems with Vista... if you use an extender I would look into that before running Windows Vista.

Vista has media center built in. I did the upgrade on a Shuttle media center and it is working fine...BUT I have standard devices which all have Vista drivers Nvidia 6600GT video card, RealTek onboard audio, and an ATI 550 tuner.
Laptops often need specialized drivers which probably are not available yet for Vista...
I would suggest against it.
